of course i ended up in the reptile area, which was actually quite nice and well-kept, to my surprise. in one of the enclosures, was a gorgeous white ghost corn snake. i've never been much into corns, but he was sweet! he was actually a "rescue" of sorts. somebody bought him about two years ago and just recently brought him back saying they didn't want him anymore (i didn't know this until after i got him out and talked to the guy about him). the new price was only $35! but since i wasn't much into corns, i decided to pass.
so i asked if i could hold him, just for the fun of it. the guy got him out and handed him to me. "are you gonna take him home? i've been trying to find a good home for him..." i replied: "nah. i'm not out to buy anything today." to which he replied, "are you sure? he's a steal for $20."
"20? i said... the cage says 35."
he walked to the cage, got out his grease marker, crossed out the 35 and wrote $20.
so i said, "let me go check with my wife."
to make an already too-long story short, she said yes, and now i've got my first corn!
so everyone meet murphy...
