I have three leopard geckos now. The most recent addition I named Shrila, which means fortunate and beautiful. She was given as a birthday present to the cousin of one of my closest friends. That cousin, however, knew little to nothing of raising leopard geckos. The poor thing had no calcium, was fed the wrong things, and was kept in a tank barely twice as long as she was. When she shed her skin, she could not get it all off and lost the ends of her toes on her left foot, seeing as she didn't have a moist hide either. When her abuse was discovered by the mother, she took her away and gave her to her nephew, which raises bearded dragons. He did not want a leopard gecko nor had a spare tank to care for it, so he tried giving her away to four different pet stores. Those pet stores would not accept her because of the lost toes and gave her back to him. He was afraid that he might have to kill her until her remembered that I raised geckos. I fell in love with her the second I saw her and was only pushed to accept her more by her sad story.
I write this to all of those individuals out there that are kind hearted enough to take in an unwanted animal and give it a home and love. I hope that by hearing this story, you might find a neglected animal and give it a loving home as well.
, Sincerely
